In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, Zoe Kurdakul, lifetime resident of Hamilton, will host her third annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of South Clinton Avenue and Beech Avenue near the Hamilton Little Lads baseball fields.

After volunteering for the Foundation at a local Starbucks, Kurdakul read the story of Alex and decided she too would host a stand to raise money and awareness. Last year, she raised over $1,000 serving organic lemonade and gluten free lollipops.

This year, Kurdakul hopes to raise $1,200 and a great deal of awareness. Along with lemonade and lollipops, this year’s stand will include face painting, music and more.

New this year, 50 families across the country have been selected to represent their states and join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) in the fight against childhood cancer during Alex’s Lemonade Days (June 12-14). These Hero Family State Representatives, all of whom have been personally impacted by childhood cancer, will share their stories, hold their own lemonade stands, and spread word about the fundraiser and the ALSF mission throughout their communities.

Founded by Alex Scott (1996-2004) in 2004, Alex’s Lemonade Days is a three-day national event that grew out of Alex’s front yard lemonade stand. During Alex’s Lemonade Days, dedicated volunteers host thousands of Alex’s Lemonade Stands across the country, raising over $1 million for childhood cancer research. June 2015 will mark the 12th Annual Lemonade Days, and will continue Alex’s mission to raise money one cup of lemonade at a time, renewing her idea that any contributor, at any age, can make a difference.
