Bryan Mitchell, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, was selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 14 to April 20.

Mitchell, a native of Reidsville, North Carolina, has a record of 1-0 with 12 strikeouts. When he made his debut against the Akron Aeros he threw six shutout innings in a 2-0 victory.

The career-high 12 strikeouts were the most for a Thunder starting pitcher since 010.

Mitchell was promoted to the New York Yankees on April 20 but optioned back to Trenton the next day without having made an appearance with the Yankees.

Mitchell is the first Trenton Thunder player to win an Eastern League weekly award in 2014.
