Littlebrook Elementary School was one of six winners of the second NRG Energy Creatively Green Awards, a competitive program to bring arts-based sustainability education to schoolchildren and their families.

NRG Energy is a Princeton-based electricity company and a longtime supporter of Young Audiences New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania.

The six winning schools came from across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania and were selected out of the 18 schools that applied.

Winning schools will have the opportunity to host a community festival for parents, children and teachers. The festivals will consist of a performance by a Young Audience artist focused on the importance of protecting the environment and art workshops that promote sustainability.

Prior to this, Littlebrook was already a member of Terracycle and has participated in the Green Schools Program, the Alliance to Save Energies, the Princeton Garden School Co-Op and Sustainable Princeton. Additionally, every student has been involved in planting, growing, and harvesting the school garden.
