Womanspace said it needs volunteers for its Domestic Violence Victim Response Team and Sexual Assault Support Services Advocate Team. The next volunteer training session is set to begin March 5.

Womanspace said team members respond to local police stations or hospitals and provide victims with support, information and referrals.

Volunteers are required to be fluent in English, but Womanspace encourages bilingual individuals to apply.

Womanspace said applicants must submit to a background check and fingerprinting. Qualified volunteers will not have a criminal history.

Womanspace said volunteers will undergo at least 80 hours of training on topics including the law, sensitivity to the needs of victims and how to provide appropriate responses at a very critical time.
