An evening of multi-cultural entertainment, dances, songs, and instrumentals from a diverse group of performers and choreographers will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 5 p.m. at High School North, 90 Grovers Mill Road, Plainsboro. The youth of WW-P present the seventh annual Rangeela event to benefit March of Dimes. Rahul Bansal, a graduate of High School North and now an investment banker with Citibank, founded the multi-cultural event that has donated more than $200,”000 to March of Dimes throughout the years. Student volunteers include Aneesh Pirlamarla, Aakash Bhatia, Ranajoy Bose, Vishal Pathak, Rhea Hans, Nikhita Thaper, Lekha Racharla, and Ronak Gandhi. Adult mentors include Percis Bansal, Shaila Kotak, Padmaja Racharla, Pinakin and Kirti Pathak, Pallavi Gandhi, and Jaishree Ramnath.
Highlights of the evening include a dance performance by Articulate, a dance troupe from Bangalore in South India with both blind and sighted performers. New York musicians Sanjeev and Armeen Ramabhadran with Prasad Joshi on tabla, Sachin Ramabhadran on drums, and Rohan Prabhudesai on keyboard also perform. A buffet dinner featuring many varied culinary delights has been donated by Palace of Asia.
“Unique to Rangeela is the outstanding leadership that comes from local high school students,” says Padmaja Racharla, one of the coordinators of this year’s benefit. “The students, who demonstrate active leadership in almost every phase of the show, begin work in June and continue every other week until the performance.”
Proceeds from Rangeela enable the March of Dimes to continue its fight to prevent birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
