Mrinalini Basu and Daniel Xia were contestants at the Times Spelling Bee held on March 17 at Rider University, after this issue went to print. Basu is a student at Community Middle School. Xia is a student at Grover Middle School.
All participants receive a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. The champion receives awards including an all-expense paid week in Washington, D.C. as a participant of the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee.
