West Windsor Plainsboro Girl Scout Troop 1018 recently donated more than 70 gift bags of gently-used stuffed animals to HomeFront in support of victims of domestic violence. HomeFront provides transitional housing to more than 50 families, many of whom are single mothers with children.

To help allay the children’s uneasiness about their new surroundings, HomeFront’s case managers give each child a stuffed animal to call their own. “A stuffed animal can be a great source of comfort to a scared child,” says Lauren Fine of HomeFront. Noting how nice it was to receive the stuffed animals in gift bags, she said, “This way it’s like giving each of the children a present.”

Troop members include Maxine Rivers, Catherine Wherry, Stephanie Ku, Hannah Leventhal, Megan Cloyes, Jen Catalano, and Kim Clifton.
