Pennington church to hold bike drive

The Pennington Presbyterian Church will be conducting a used bicycle collection in partnership with Pedals for Progress.

Bikes can be dropped off on May 3, 1 to 4 p.m. rain or shine at Hopewell Valley Central High School.

There is a $10 fee per bicycle to cover shipping, rebuilding and distribution costs.

Pedals for Progress collects 6,000 to 7,000 bicycles annually to ship to developing countries in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. In these countries the bikes are reconditioned by partner agencies and distributed at low cost to poor working adults. These bikes provide them with reliable transportation for commuting to work, transporting produce to market or accessing health care and other services.
