The Hopewell Township Parks and Recreation Department is set to sponsor the Winter Sticks Indoor Field Hockey program.

Students in second through eighth grade from Hopewell Valley and neighboring municipalities are eligible to participate.

Timberlane Middle School field hockey coach Grace Rarich and CHS varsity assistant Maggie Rarich will lead the program.

The program is set to run Sundays Jan. 5 to Feb. 2 in the CHS gymnasium.

The Common Goals Winter Clinic is for participants in second through fifth grade and provides an ideal opportunity to learn the fundamentals and basic skills of field hockey. A recreational philosophy and instruction are emphasized.

The clinic is scheduled for 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The Winter Sticks Field Hockey League for grades six to eight features organized games and officiating while maintaining a recreational philosophy. It is scheduled for 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Participants need to provide their own shin guards, mouthpiece, stick and proper footwear, which can be sneakers.

The cost for the indoor field hockey program is $86 per person or $75 for Hopewell Township residents
