Fire damages home in Hopewell’s Four Seasons neighborhood

A single-family home in the Four Seasons development of Brandon Farms suffered significant damage in an early morning fire, Hopewell Township police report.

Township police, along with the Pennington Fire Department, responded to a call from a Foster Road Address for a residential structure fire around 5:36 a.m. Hopewell Township police officer Sara Erwin arrived within minutes and observed flames coming through the roof of the home.

The Pennington Fire Department, under the command of Chief Jim Deforte, arrived on location and began to battle the fire. As a precaution, two neighboring homes were evacuated during fire operations.

The resident of the home reported that he awoke to the smell of smoke in the home. The resident called 911 and exited the home without injury.

Agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Department included the Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Company, Pennington Road Fire Company, West Trenton Fire Company, Pennington First Aid Squad and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services. The fire was brought under control at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Police report that the home suffered major fire damage, as well as heat, smoke and water damage throughout. It was left uninhabitable. Two neighboring homes also suffered exterior damage due to heat.

This incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department (Detective Alexis Mirra), Hopewell Valley Emergency Services (Specialist David VanDoren), the Mercer County Prosecutors Office (Sgt. Gary Wasko) and the Mercer County Fire Marshal’s Office.
