One of the best parts of living in New Jersey is the spectacular show put on every year as summer fades into fall and the local landscape is painted in autumn hues. As amazing as it is to observe, the science and reason behind this seasonal transformation is even more impressive. Join the Mercer County Naturalist staff as they lead a hike to explore and educate participants about the changing fall foliage on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Starting from the Tulpehaking Nature Center, this program will wind through the trails of the Abbott Marshlands focusing on the changes that fall brings to the natural world around us.

This program is $5 per person or $20 per family. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water. For more information and to pre-register, call (609) 303-0706 or e-mail natureprograms@mercercounty.org.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center is located at 157 Westcott Ave. in Hamilton. Fall hours for the nature center are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

The nature center provides programs and exhibits that encourage visitors to explore and discover the many cultural, historic and natural resources of the Abbott Marshlands. It is owned by the County of Mercer and operated by the Mercer County Park Commission. For more information about the nature center, programs and schedule of events, go to mercercountyparks.org.
