Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly A. Yaede announced that she will be naming David Carothers as the new director of the Department of Public Works following the retirement of current director Frank Ragazzo, effective March 29.

Ragazzo has served as Public Works director for about two years. During his term as director he oversaw the paving of 29 streets and the cleanup from hurricanes Irene and Sandy.

He worked with his successor in public works and said he is confident Carothers is ready for the role.

“Having worked side-by-side with him over the last couple of years, I have no doubt that he is ready for the task at hand and will do an outstanding job,” Ragazzo said in a statement.

Carothers started working for Hamilton Township as a laborer and worked his way up to become public works’ Coordinator of Safety Programs. He also serves as the township’s Emergency Management Coordinator.

He is set to serve as acting director of public works until his appointment is considered and approved by the Hamilton Township Council.
