AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors scheduled two gardening events for Earth Day in April.

Earth and Arbor Day Tree Planting and Park Clean-Up is set for April 20 and butterfly gardening is set for April 25 through 27.

Watershed Ambassadors and Bordentown Green Team members plan to plant 75 trees in Bossert Park along Thorntown Creek on Thorntown Lane.

Northen Red Oak, Eastern Redbud and Bald Cypress tree saplings are provided by the New Jersey Tree Foundation, Bordentown Township Public Works and the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors Program.

Participants should meet at 9 a.m. on Thorntown Lane and bring a water bottle, small shovel, work gloves and watering can.

Watershed Ambassadors are working with D&R Greenway Land Trust to create a butterfly garden in Lime Kiln Alley Park on Federal Street in Bordentown City.

The park is preserved as an open space by D&R Greenway and Bordentown City. The butterfly garden is part of a larger plan to enhance the recreation, aesthetics, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services provided by the park.

AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program is organized by Department of Environmental Protection to raise awareness about water and watershed issues.
