Robbinsville’s Morgan Serra, an eighth-grader at Pond Road Middle School, was recently selected as one of the United States Achievement Academy Scholarship winners for the 2013-2014 school year.

Morgan was nominated by her seventh grade language arts teacher, Joseph Conroy. For the 2013-2014 school year, 26,029 schools nationwide participated in the program and only nine students were chosen from New Jersey, three of them middle schoolers.

The USAA is a non-profit organization that recognizes and rewards students, grades 5-12, for their academic and extra-curricular achievements. The standards for selection include academic performance, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, and attitude and cooperative spirit. Besides achieving high grades, Morgan is involved in many extracurricular and volunteer activities.
