Why So Many New District Hires?

Susan Totaro, the curriculum and instruction supervisor for K-12 for the WW-P school district, seemed very enthused when stating that there are “80 new teachers and counting” for this academic year. This number is alarming to say the least, and definitely nothing to be proud of.

The fact that 80 teachers needed to be replaced in one year shows that 10 percent of the teaching workforce left or retired. That percentage speaks volume of the crisis that WW-P is going through. During the years that Victoria Kniewel was superintendent at WW-P and Chris Christie was governor of New Jersey, ans teachers go to different courses and get trained on our taxes. Of course they need to be trained because Mr. Aderhold is asking the BOE to approve to hire new teachers so new that they are being hired pending their teaching certificate. These teachers are as rookies as they get.

WW-P not only cannot attract seasoned teachers anymore, we have fallen so low that we are attracting teachers pending their teaching certificate. Forget about hiring teachers from Columbia and NYU as we used to have. Now all of our teachers come from Rider (guess where the connection is?) and TCNJ and a select few from Rutgers.

Stay tuned, the next big expense that the board of education will approve is the trip to Atlantic City. That trip that will cost all of us over $15,000. This conference starts with a cocktail and some pocket money for each of the board members. It is Atlantic City after all!
