Compliments to the West Windsor Police department and Lieutenant Robert Garofalo and their use of Facebook, Twitter, and Nixle to keep residents informed before, during, and after Hurricane Sandy.

While I am a resident of Plainsboro and appreciated the fine efforts of our township, which also provided valuable updates via E-mail and Twitter, I must note that the West Windsor Police exceeded all expectations by providing a constant stream of up to the minute information. Their innovative use of a Google map to show information on downed power lines and closed streets was invaluable to anyone who was connected to the Internet or who had a working smartphone during these trying times.

The West Windsor Police Department and Lieutenant Garofalo deserve recognition statewide for setting a superior example of the use of social media outlets to provide information during a crisis.
