Hochman supports Aderhold as superintendent

The Board of Education’s main focus is to make sure that the schools are well run. The board does this by hiring a superintendent of schools who directly or indirectly supervises all district employees. The board is required by state law to annually evaluate the superintendent. Hiring and evaluating the superintendent of schools is the most important responsibility of the Board.

Shortly after I was elected to the board in 2009, the board was tasked with interviewing candidates for two vacant assistant superintendent positions. Two assistant superintendents were leaving WW-P to become superintendents of schools in neighboring districts.

The board interviewed the final candidates and made its choices. One of the assistant superintendents hired was Dr. David Aderhold.

Dr. Aderhold proved to be an incredible talent, was promoted to deputy superintendent and ultimately succeeded Dr. Victoria Kniewel as superintendent of schools.

I was no longer on the Board when Dr. Aderhold was appointed superintendent, but was pleased that the board saw fit to appoint him to the top job. I wrote a letter to the editor of West Windsor & Plainsboro News in April 2013 commending the board for appointing Dr. Aderhold as superintendent of schools.

I am pleased to have been part of the process that brought Dr. Aderhold to West Windsor–Plainsboro. While I don’t agree with every action Dr. Aderhold has taken, I believe that he has done an excellent job as superintendent.

I am asking the voters of Plainsboro to elect me to a second term on the Board of Education.

Todd Hochman
