The letter below was posted on Plainsboro Township’s website.

Dear Citizens of Plainsboro,

On behalf of the Plainsboro Township Committee, I would like to update you on developments at the Plainsboro Plaza Shopping Center.

As you can see, work on the facade of the buildings, which was slow prior, ceased during the winter months. Indus Bank is now open. Building permits were recently issued for the LightBridge Academy, a preschool/daycare facility which will be occupying the space vacated by Ace Hardware. Planet Fitness, which will occupy the former Peebles department store space, is under construction and progressing. A spring opening is planned. New signs have been constructed at three locations near and in front of the plaza.

Onyx Equities continues to target a full-service grocery store for the plaza. Negotiations with a grocery store chain that have been on-going have not been successful. While the parties continue to talk we are left with the impression that a grocery store will not be opening at the plaza in the near future. We continue to press Onyx, making it clear that a grocery store is essential and is needed in the community.

We will continue to keep you informed on the plaza. Future updates will appear on the webpage of the Planning & Zoning Department under “Development Activity.”
