Board Meetings Must Be Shared with Community

I attended the September 23 Board of Education meeting where the Bachner field memorial was discussed.

Prior to the onerous discussion and agonizing decision during which the board leadership went to great lengths to decline support of the board’s own criteria, I asked the board president during public comment if the meeting were being video-taped for re-broadcast or broadcast live?

The answer was, still after 14 years of asking, a resounding NO.

My question to the public — school taxpayers and community residents: Why are board meetings not videotaped and shared with the WW-P communities?

It is important you become educated and informed on how this district spends $164,000,000+ of your money each year. If you think the school district warrants more of your paycheck, please send more of your money so we can spend less.

Surely you will support a Board of Education agenda item to discuss this. Write a letter to the editor to say why this might be a good idea — or bad idea. (We already have governments that tax yet operate under the cloak of secrecy.)
