All Best to WW-P School District

On November 27 I was one of the four candidates interviewed by the West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education for the vacancy left by Ellen Walsh. I want to thank the board for giving me this opportunity to express my opinion.

WW-P is a great school district. Our family moved here for our children’s education.

While my children and I love the WW-P school system, I also realize many issues the district is facing. The dominating one is to balance education quality and tax level. Meanwhile, fixed budget, co-curricular activities compete with academics, and class size at the elementary level competes with advanced courses at the high school level. On top of these, state aid to the district has faced a steep reduction, forcing the district to review some programs for potential savings.

All these issues need to be handled carefully.

I have the experience and knowledge to handle those issues. I have been a board member of the Plainsboro branch of Huaxia Chinese School for four years. With 7,000 students and 19 branches, Huaxia is the largest Chinese school system in North America. The Plainsboro branch has 700 students and is the WW-P district’s largest facility tenant. At the Plainsboro branch, I am a member of board’s education committee and chair of the Teachers Advisory Committee. I serve to promote school harmony and work with fellow trustees to reach an amicable consensus. I also work closely with the board chair, principal, provost, administrative team, and local elected officials. We successfully handled many tricky issues and even some crises. I believe I would make a fine addition to WW-P board.
