Quaker Bridge Mall is losing one of its anchor stores this fall.
Sears Holdings is shutting down 48 Sears locations across the nation, including their Lawrence location. Fifteen Kmart stores will also close their doors.
The company identified the Quaker Bridge Mall location as one of the approximately 100 nonprofitable stores. The Lawrence shop is expected to close by early September, and liquidation sales will begin as early as June 14.
“We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which are a critical component in our transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed and as warranted,” Sears officials said in a statement.
The company statement also said that eligible associates impacted by store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area
Kmart or Sears stores.
