On Oct. 18, Lawrenceville-based Rhythms Dance Academy held a benefit show to support the YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center.
Rhythms Dance Academy, a Lawrenceville-based Indian dance school recently held a Classical Indian Dance Show to benefit the Princeton YWCA’s Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC). The event raised $3,000 for the Center.
The Rhythms dancers spent more than 150 hours in rehearsals and practices leading up to the two-hour event, which took place on Oct. 18 at the Montgomery Upper Middle School auditorium. The show featured 20 performances ranging from more traditional Bollywood and Bharatnatyam styles, to ballet and fusion.
Anusha Sivaramakrishnan, an employee of Bristol Myers Squibb by day and director of Rhythms by night, is a professional Bharatnatyam dancer, one of the oldest Indian dance forms. She has been learning and practicing for 28 years.
