JCPenney has released a list of 138 stores that it plans to close, and the list does not include its location at Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrence.
Only one New Jersey JCPenney is on the list of closures: the store in Rio Grande, in Cape May County. No other JCPenney in the state is affected, at least for the time being.
Some Pennsylvania locations were not so lucky. While Oxford Valley’s JCPenney is not on the list, those in Willow Grove, Philadelphia Mills, and King of Prussia Mall are set to be shuttered.
In a statement posted to its website, JCPenney Company, Inc. said that the store closures are part of a plan to optimize national retail operations and return the company to profitability.
