Lawrence veteran receives Mercer County Military Service Medal

County executive Brian M. Hughes presented the Mercer County Military Service Medal to World War II veteran Michael Tancreda of Lawrenceville June 20.

Tancreda received the award at a ceremony attended by family and friends at the Lawrenceville Rehabilitation Center. He is a lifelong Mercer County resident who served in the Army during World War II.

Hughes, in bestowing the honor on Mr. Tancreda, thanked him for his service and dedication to his country.

Conducting the ceremony were Joseph Vitti of Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, and Edward Mazzeo, Chief of Mercer County Veteran Affair. After the ceremony, Tancreda, his family and the other residents of the center enjoyed cake in his honor.
