How to start a vegetable garden with children

The Garden Gate Club of Lawrenceville is set to sponsor a program on creating a family garden.

Mercer County Community College horticulturist Amy Ricco is set to present How to Start a Family Garden.

Ricco will discuss how to start a small vegetable garden with children. Topics include planting seeds indoors and crops outdoors.

Ricco earned her Masters of arts and teaching with a major in agriculture education at Cornell in 1998. She has been on staff at Mercer Community College since then, and this year was selected for the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award.

The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 17 at the Lawrence Township Senior Center, 30 Darrah Lane East. Refreshments will be served
