Adath Israel Congregation announces new rabbi

Adath Israel Congregation announced the hiring of Rabbi Benjamin Adler as its new rabbi, effective July 1.

Rabbi Adler is set to replace Rabbi Daniel Grossman who will assume emeritus status after having served the congregation more than 25 years.

Rabbi Adler comes to Adath Israel from the White Meadow Temple in Rockaway.

Currently vice president of the New Jersey Rabbinical Assembly, he is a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York City where he earned a master’s degree in Jewish Philosophy as well as his rabbinic ordination. Rabbi Adler also studied at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.

He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and earned a BA in History from Columbia University.

Rabbi Adler, his wife Lisa, and their children Ronen, Jonah, and Miya are set to move to Lawrenceville shortly and a formal, community-wide installation is planned for November.
