Take a trip under the sea with Disney’s The Little Mermaid as it makes its debut at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre beginning Friday, July 8. Continuing for three weekends, the musical will be performed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. through Sunday, July 24.

In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, a beautiful, young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on the 1989 Disney animated film, and one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, Disney’s The Little Mermaid includes music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and his long-time collaborator, the late Howard Ashman. The musical also contains new songs by Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. The book for the musical is by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Doug Wright.

With a cast of over 50 actors playing a variety of characters, this production features Anastasia Zeller a newcomer to the Open Air stage, in the role of Ariel. Included in the cast is a “sea” of faces familiar to Open Air Theatre audiences including Michael Moeller as King Triton, Jordan Brennan as Scuttle and Tim Chastain as Sebastian.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid will be performed on Friday, July 8, Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 at 7:30 pm. The musical returns for two more weekends of performances on July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 also with 7:30 p.m. performances.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children (ages 12 and under) and $12 for seniors (ages 65 and older.) Tickets can be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office a half-hour prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
