Hopewell Elementary had its third annual Day of Service Jan.18.
Students observed Martin Luther King day by helping their community.
The day started with an assembly about Trenton’s Anchor House, which assists children in crisis in Mercer County.
Students made blankets and bird feeders and get-well cards for local non-profits and charities like Colin’s Kids and the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association. Students also wrote thank-you notes to military personnel.
Hopewell Elementary’s principal, David Friedrich, said the annual Day of Service is part of the school’s goal to include service in their curriculum
“At Hopewell Elementary, our students, staff and parents remain committed to service learning which integrates meaningful community service with instruction,” Friedrich said.
