Har Sinai Hebrew Congregation held its second annual Blue Jeans and Board Games School-Wide Chanukah Shabbat on Dec. 19. Students of the Hebrew school and their families came together to enjoy board games, a community dinner and a unique Friday night service that celebrated the intersection of Chanukah and Shabbat.

The Shabbat service featured tradition Shabbat prayers mixed with contemporary Chanukah music. Har Sinai Cantor Orna Green, the synagogue’s Hebrew Music Director Susan Sacks and Rabbi Stuart Pollack led the service.

“The Blue Jeans and Board Games event is a great, informal way to celebrate Chanukah in a manner that really embraces the spirit of the holiday,” says Rabbi Pollack, religious leader of Har Sinai. “It provides a unique opportunity for kids to be with each other outside of a school environment so they can interact with other students and adults in a way that emphasizes fun.”
