Mrs. LaMorte’s second grade class at Saint Raphael School sent pictures to the military overseas thanking them for their service.

On Wednesday, March 25, Mrs. LaMorte’s second grade class at Saint Raphael School received a surprise letter of thanks and appreciation from military member Michael T. Franklin, currently stationed in Afghanistan.

The students recently drew pictures of inspiration to thank military members serving overseas. The pictures included flowers, cartoon characters, symbols of faith and American flags.

The project was the idea of Mrs. Faith McGowan, who knows one of the soldiers personally and took care of mailing the drawings and messages.

In Franklin’s letter, he announced that the class drawings were posted on a special board in his office and that he would send an American flag that has been flying at his base camp. The students and Mrs. LaMorte were incredibly touched and happy with the special message.
