Based on a unanimous vote from the Bordentown Township Committee, Stephen Benowitz was named mayor for the third consecutive year. He was sworn in at the township’s annual reorganization meeting Jan. 5 at Town Hall.
Additionally, deputy mayor Eugene Fuzy was appointed to his third consecutive year with a unanimous vote from the committee. Benowitz and Fuzy were sworn in by Assemblyman Herb Conoway.
Eric Holliday was also sworn in as committeemen by Conaway. This will be Holliday’s second consecutive term.
During the meeting, Benowitz said 2018 was a year of “many accomplishments” for Bordentown, citing road paving, recreation improvements, grant awards, economic development, and the stability of the municipal tax rate as examples.
“I’m looking forward to continuing these initiatives in the new year,” Benowitz said.
Burlington County deputy freeholder director Balvir Singh was in attendance to congratulate officials. The Bordentown Township Honor Guard presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem and God Bless America were performed by Retired Command Master Chief, US Navy, Joseph Eppolito.
All members of the committee addressed the audience with reports from their respective liaison appointments and spoke about their plans for 2019.
