The fifth annual Bordentwon City Green Fair is set to return June 14.
The fair, sponsored by both the Bordentown City Green Team and the Environmental Commission, features more than 50 vendors, electronic vehicle display and a plant swap.
Bordentown City Green Team co-chair Cindy Gallagher says the fair theme is “think globally and act locally.”
“Attendees will once again be given the opportunity to see and learn many ways, big and small, where they can make a difference in their everyday lives to be and live a more sustainable lifestyle,” Gallagher said in a statement.
The community-wide event is designed as a day of information, exploration, and action for the whole family.
Fair includes eco-friendly products and services, environmental organizations, food vendors, free raffles for eco-prizes, live alpacas and honeybees and bike registration for city residents with the Bordentown City Police Department.
Kids’ activities include local storyteller Denise McCormack and activities hosted by the Bordentown City Creative Team, MAD Splatter, Girl Scout Troop 24137, Dorothea Dix Unitarian Universalists, the Kiwanis Club of New Jersey, the N.J. Watershed Ambassador and face painting and animal balloons by Karaoke the Clown.
Live music and entertainment will be performed by local bands Barley Harvest and Across the Street, along with solo vocalists Jeff Griesemer and Carl Alderson and a Middle Eastern dance demonstration by the Tehani Mid-East and Polynesian Dance Company.
There is also a Lighting Fair (energy efficient lighting display and sale) on the premises.
For those needing to destroy unneeded personal documents there will be Paper Shredding from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Green Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carslake Community Center, 207 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown City.
The event is free to attend and will take place rain or shine.
Through the collaborative efforts of the city’s Green Team and Environmental Commission, Bordentown City has increased its efforts to promote sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyles in recent years, garnering the 2010 Bronze Level certification and Silver Certification in 2013 in the Sustainable Jersey program.
