West Windsor Farmers Market kicks off its 13th year on Saturday, May 7, with 16 farms, 12 artisan food vendors, community groups, live music, and more in the Vaughn Drive lot at Princeton Junction Train Station.

Opening day will include the traditional walk led by the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance from Maurice Hawk School to the market. Girl Scouts from High Schools North and South will be running an interactive shopping bag event to discourage the use of plastic bags. Bring one or two old T-shirts of any size and learn to create a no-sew, reusable grocery bag in less than 10 minutes.

New to the market this year are Fields Without Fences, an herb and perennial farm; Squirrel and the Bee, offering grain, gluten, dairy, and refined sugar-free baked goods; and LoRe Pasta, fresh pasta from locally grown grains. For the first time the market will also accept SNAP EBT to allow shoppers using food assistance to make purchases at the market. Visit the market information tent for details.

The market runs every Saturday until Thanksgiving, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information visit www.westwindsorfarmersmarket.org.
