Westminster Conservatory to present two free concerts

Westminster Conservatory is set to present two free concerts Feb. 2.

A faculty group called Sky Lark String Quartet and pianist Clipper Erickson are scheduled to perform.

The Sky Lark String Quartet is set to present a concert titled Old and New, Near and Far 3 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College, 101 Walnut Lane, Princeton.

The ensemble is composed of Dezhing Ping on violin, Hyun Soo Lim on violin, Emily Muller on viola and Carol Redfield Vizzini on cello.

They plan to perform Mozart’s Quartet in A Major, K. 464, Chunyang Ping’s “Andante” from String Quartet in A Minor, Deborah Kilmer’s Westminster String Quartet, and Mendelssohn’s Quartet in D Major, Op. 44, No.1.

Erickson, a Westminster faculty member, is set to present a a recital titled Enchantment and Fantasy 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 in Bristol Chapel.

The program features solo piano compositions by Richard Brodhead, R. Nathaniel Dett and Robert Schumann, as well as readings from Schumann’s letters, presented by by Westminster Conservatory faculty member Mary Greenberg.

Erickson made his debut as soloist with the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra at age 19 in Los Angeles. After studies at Indiana University, The Juilliard School and Yale University, he began performing as a soloist with orchestra and a recitalist throughout the United States.
