For the fourth consecutive year, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey awarded University Medical Center of Princeton for its safety and quality of care.

Horizon BCBSBJ presented the $234,700 Hospital Recognition Award to Princeton HealthCare System president and CEO Barry S. Rabner.

The recognition awards reflect hospitals’ performance on surveys by The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based coalition working to improve the safety, quality and affordability of health care.

Earlier this year, UMCP received an “A” grade in The Leapfrog Group’s most recent Hospital Safety Score, which is published twice yearly based on data related to preventable errors, injuries, accidents and infections. UMCP has earned all A’s since the grading began in the spring of 2012.

Princeton HealthCare System is a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system that strives to anticipate and serve the lifelong needs of central New Jersey residents, including acute care hospital services through UMCP, behavioral healthcare through Princeton House Behavioral Health, rehabilitation, home care, hospice care, ambulatory surgery, a primary and specialty medical practice, and fitness and wellness services.
