Three West Windsor Boy Scouts from Troop 40 were celebrated for earning their Eagle Scout Awards on June 16. The Scouts are Harsh Sharma, Joseph Durie and Dhiraj Chakravorty.

The award was presented by former Troop 40 scoutmaster Richard Pfaltzgraff during the Eagle court of honor, which was attended by West Windsor Mayor Hemant Marathe and Scott Needham on behalf of Rotary International, as well as Troop 40 families and friends.

Sharma is Troop 40’s 131st Eagle Scout. For his Eagle project, Sharma installed four bike racks, marked out trails on a map and placed trail markers at West Windsor Community Park.

This project was done in conjunction with West Windsor Township and the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance.

Durie is Troop 40’s 135th Eagle Scout. For his Eagle project, he built an outdoor meeting area at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in West Windsor.

The area he designed was a 15-foot radius gravel circle with 16 benches and a table. It seats 72 people in total. Durie led 49 volunteers through six work sessions in the construction of the project, which took place from August to October 2017.

Chakravorty is Troop 40’s 136th Eagle Scout. For his Eagle project, he constructed two picnic tables and did landscaping for West Windsor Township’s American Legion Centennial Memorial adjacent to the municipal building.

The first picnic table is placed between the memorial and the municipal building, while the second table is outside the emergency services building.
