The New Jersey State Council on the Arts announced that it was awarding $19,007 grant to the Trenton Education Dance Institute (TEDI), a program of The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey. The grant is the third of a three year commitment of the Council to TEDI.

TEDI teaches Trenton students life skills such as confidence, cooperation and pride in personal achievement through dance.

It also has a partnership with the Trenton Public School District.

Last year, TEDI provided weekly after school dance classes for 204 students from fifth to tenth grade. The students learned dance steps and language skills and also practiced journaling exercises to complement classroom lessons.
