South graduate Anthony Aloi finished in a tie for 177th place at the U.S. Amateur Championship last month. In his first round, Aloi shot a 7-over 77. Overall, he shot 77-77: 154 to finish plus-14.

Matt Davidson, also a West Windsor-Plainsboro graduate and a professional golfer, had his fourth straight top 10 finish on the eGolf Professional Tour. He shot 66-67-68-59 — 270 for a second place finish at the Championship of Savannah Harbor. He won $21,000.

The West-Windsor Plainsboro Soccer Association will host the grand opening of its new Duck Pond Park soccer facilities on Saturday, September 12, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The grand opening ceremonies are at 10:30 a.m., while the uniform distribution will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Games are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The park is on Meadow Road.

Alyssa Schiera of West Windsor, a sixth grader at Grover Middle School, recently became New Jersey’s Player of the Year for U.S. Kids Golf for Girls Age 11. The championship tournament was played at the Mattawang Golf Course in Belle Mead. This is the third year in the last four that Schiera has won Player of the Year for her age group.

West Windsor resident Joe Gorberg finished second overall in the Turkey Swamp 10-Miler in Freehold with a time of 1:22:13.3. Plainsboro resident Russell Towell finished sixth, in 1:27:00.1.

West Windsor resident Don Swanson was named the new girls’ head tennis coach at Trenton Catholic Academy.
