Paul Hamnett, who has led the High School South boys’ and girls’ swim teams to numerous achievements over the past 11 seasons, has resigned as coach to spend more time with his family.

In his place, the school district has hired Anthony Bartolone, a special education teacher who has served as assistant coach for the past two years.

Hamnett was named the New Jersey Swim Coach of the Year this past season by the National Federation of High Schools Association after the girls won their 11th consecutive county title. The Pirates also won their ninth sectional title (out of the past 11 years). Hamnett finished with a record of 173-16-1 with the girls team.
