Joshua Everett Andrew Suslak, a junior at High School South, is the first place winner for the NJMTA Young Musicians Competition and will perform at Rider University on Sunday, November 19, at 5 p.m. He was also chosen to perform in this year’s Rising Star Concert for high school students throughout New Jersey, performing his concerto on Wednesday, November 29, at the Algonquin Arts Center in Manasquan.

For a second time, Suslak was the winner in Westminster’s Concerto Competition and will play Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at Richardson Auditorium, Princeton University, on March 4. He studies with music teacher Rita Shklar.

Suslak remains committed to entertain the elderly at assisted living facilities at Bear Creek in West Windsor, Forsgate in Monroe, Acorn Glenn in Princeton, and entertains as well as helps residents at Merwick Rehabilitation Center of the Medical Center at Princeton.

At South, Suslak is active in the high school choir, a cappella, orchestra, and band. He will be traveling to Russia in the spring with the choir and orchestra. In his spare time, he accompanies his classmates for voice instruction, college music applications, and Governor’s School auditions.
