A special evening to raise money for Puerto Rico relief efforts will be held on Monday, Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at El Tropical Family Restaurant, 120 Lalor Street, Trenton.

For the fundraiser, El Tropical Family Restaurant will be offering food, beverages and live music. The suggested donation is $35 per person; however, more generous donations will be accepted.

Hurricane Maria slammed Puerto Rico and made landfall Sept. 20. It caused widespread destruction and disorganization comparable to few storms in American history. Weeks after the storm, most of the island’s residents still lack electricity, clean water and medical care.

The event will benefit the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, and it is sponsored by State Senator Shirley Turner, Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, Assemblywoman Liz Muoio, and The Mercer County Latino Democratic Caucus.

For more information about this fundraiser, contact Roberto Hernandez, president of the Mercer County Latino Democratic Caucus at (609) 954-7487.
