Medina Community Clinic, founded by West Windsor resident Sajid Syed in 2015 to provide specialty healthcare to underserved members of the community, marks its second year in operation with a fundraiser lunch on Sunday, May 1, at Windsor Athletic Club.

The clinic, which served 48 patients in the first quarter of 2016, receives referrals from the Henry J. Austin Health Center as well as St. Francis and Robert Wood Johnson hospitals. Those patients are then seen by one of 25 physicians on Medina’s panel of volunteer specialty providers.

The May 1 event will feature a conversation among Linda Schwimmer, president and CEO of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute and a member of Medina’s Board of Directors; Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker; and Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli about upcoming health issues on the legislative docket.

Said Syed in a statement: “We didn’t want to ‘recreate the wheel’ but rather work with existing assets on the ground. We are doing just that and providing patients with desperately needed special care services. It is very gratifying.”

Fundraiser, Medina Community Clinic, Windsor Athletic Club, 99 Clarksville Road, West Windsor. Sunday, May 1, 1 to 3 p.m. $50. Register. 609-270-5067 or medinahealthcare.org.
