Five Troop 1072 members have received the Junior Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl scout can earn. Members include Lauren Apuzzi and Neha Kulkarni from Community Middle School and Alexis Bruno, Chelsea Easter, and Stephanie Yi from Grover Middle School. The Troop leaders include Josi Easter, Judy Apuzzi, and Linda Bruno.

Their project, babysitting at the monthly leader meetings, also rewarded them with the requirements of the “Caring for Children” badge. The girls divided into four stations so that the 20 children could all enjoy games, crafts, story time, and homework help.

They also participated in other community services projects, including meals on wheels at the American Red Cross, Christmas carols at the Gables, and participation in “Red Ribbons for Aid Awareness Program.”

“I am very proud of the girls; they really stepped up to the challenge and had fun in the process,” says Easter. “I think they have a new respect for babysitting.”
