Plainsboro residents will vote on Saturday, February 16, on the proposed $1,”965,”780 fire district budget for 2008, and on whether to re-elect incumbent fire commissioners Phil Giusto and George Krebs.##M:[more]##

Of the total budget, $1,”848,”000 is proposed to be raised through taxation. The budget is up from last year’s $1,”817,”880 budget due to rising costs associated with maintenance and manpower, said Dave Seip, a paid member of the Plainsboro Fire Department staff. In the 2007 approved budget, $1,”761,”671 was raised through taxation.

However, the tax rate is proposed to stay the same as it was in 2007, at .048 per $100. That’s due to an increase in ratables from an increase in valuations, new construction, and other factors, Seip said. Residents can vote at the Fire Department at 405 Plainsboro Road from 2 to 9 p.m. on February 16.
