The Township Council has adopted revisions to its fee ordinance that include increases in some areas for the services the township provides.

The ordinance — adopted on December 6 — come at a time when the township is anticipating another tough budget process ahead, especially given the constraints a 2-percent cap on tax levy increases present.

Business Administrator Robert Hary said he and other officials went through the township’s list of fees and found areas where the township could increase the fees within reason to help bring in more revenue.

He assured the council that the revisions were in line with fees in other neighboring towns.

Cable TV Ordinance. During the Township Council’s following meeting on December 13, the council reviewed its revisions to the township’s cable TV ordinance.

That ordinance is among the items on the Township Council’s agenda in the new year, as it is scheduled for introduction in January.

Discussions on the Cable TV Advisory ordinance have been ongoing, but in October, the council voted to create a smaller Cable TV Advisory Board — shrinking it from nine to five members to “streamline” the process for handling cable television-related policy decisions.

However, it will still maintain some public input. Instead of the current set up, the council voted to create an advisory committee consisting of the mayor or his designee (a member of the administration), two Township Council members, and two members of the public — one appointed by the mayor, and one by the council.

The council also decided to keep the “Cable TV Advisory Board” title for the body, rather that changing its name to a committee, as originally proposed.
