Ilene Watrous of West Windsor recently returned from a workshop in San Diego that advances her knowledge of Primal Reflex Release Technique, a new therapy treatment to alleviate muscular pain. She is a physical therapist with a private practice in West Windsor.##M:[more]##

“The technique is an advanced form of manual therapy,” says Watrous. “The therapist uses light tapping and gentle positioning and movement to get a muscle to release pain from a deeper, more primal level than the specific muscle or joint that hurts.”

Since starting her practice in 1979, Watrous has been studying and using advanced techniques of hands-on-therapy including cranio-sacral work, the Trager method, and strain-counterstrain. All three utilize gentle movement to treat sports injuries, Parkinson’s disease, fibromyalgia, and migraines.
