On Saturday, September 26, 2015, The Lady Margaret Animal Foundation (TLMAF) is scheduled to host the 5th Annual Trenton Animal Fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will take place at Rho Waterfront Restaurant located at 50 River View Plaza in Trenton.

Earlier this year, Trenton North Ward Councilwoman Marge Caldwell-Wilson established The Lady Margaret Animal Foundation whose goal is to raise funds for animals in need and to help develop educational programs to inform the community on the humane treatment of animals.

This year, TLMAF is excited to announce former CBS Philly/Channel 3 meteorologist, Carol Erickson as the keynote speaker. Erickson is a passionate advocate for family pets and other animals. She often included “pet advisories” in her weather forecasts, and reported on animal-related stories. For years, she hosted the popular “Ask the Vet” segment with Dr. Jerry Geffen, which aired on Eyewitness News Sunday mornings.

In 2007, she was awarded the Pennsylvania SPCA Media All-Star Award. In 2008, she was an Honoree at the PSPCA Good Dogs Gala for her efforts with shelter animals. In 2012, she was awarded the Dog’s Best Friend award from the Philadelphia Kennel Club at the National Dog Show. Recently, Erickson expanded her media career by publishing a children’s book, “Not A Used Dog, At All,” a book encouraging the adoption of shelter dogs.

Also this year, TLMAF will honor Jordyn Cascone, a 14-year-old Hamiltonian who started Cause 4 Paws, a charity that works with Meals on Wheels and helps deliver pet food to pet owners who are on a fixed income.

Admission is $40 a person, paid at the door. No advance tickets will be issued. All donations are tax deductible.

The event organizers are still seeking event sponsors and vendors of pet related merchandise. Call (609) 789-0724 for more information.

Those who are unable to attend but wish to donate should send a check, made payable to The Lady Margaret Animal Foundation and mail to 246 Jackson Street Trenton, NJ 08611. A majority of the proceeds will benefit the Trenton Animal Shelter.
