A 33-year-old man from Princeton was found dead last week after his Tesla was discovered submerged in a Bucks County lake, authorities said.

Wen H. Chen’s body was recovered from Lake Luxembourg in Middletown Township on the evening of July 3, after a kayaker spotted the vehicle several hundred feet from a boat ramp near Tollgate and Fulling Mill roads. Emergency crews responded to the scene and located the submerged car in Core Creek Park.

According to authorities, surveillance footage from nearby businesses showed the Tesla heading toward the lake earlier in the day. Investigators also recovered data and video from the vehicle’s onboard cameras.

The Tesla was found with its windows rolled down—likely a result of an automatic safety feature triggered when the vehicle entered the water, authorities said.

An autopsy has been performed, but the cause and manner of Chen’s death remain pending toxicology results.

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Chen was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were reported inside the vehicle.
