Cell therapy firm to bring 100 jobs to $12M headquarters in Plainsboro

Cell therapy manufacturing company Made Scientific recently opened a new $12-million 60,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Plainsboro Township.

The contract development and manufacturing organization held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August, 14 for its new GMP manufacturing facility.

The facility includes five ISO 7/Grade B cleanrooms, in-house quality control labs and process development capabilities designed to support cell therapy manufacturing for clinical trials and commercial production.

Made Scientific specializes in autologous and allogeneic cell therapy products.

“Made Scientific’s investment in Plainsboro Township is a testament to how New Jersey continues to lead the nation in life sciences and advanced biomanufacturing,” said Gov. Phil Murphy. “Investing in this new facility creates good-paying, high-quality jobs for New Jerseyans.”

The company plans to hire more than 100 additional skilled professionals as part of a second expansion phase already announced. Made Scientific has also revealed plans for an additional 12,000-square-foot cleanroom build-out that will meet FDA and EU compliance standards.

“We are very pleased that Made Scientific, a leading cell therapy CDMO, has made the decision to locate its new headquarters and GMP manufacturing facility here in Plainsboro,” said Mayor Edmund Yates.

“It reinforces the strength of our town and workforce that locating in Plainsboro is a positive decision for Made Scientific and other pharma and biotech companies,” Yates said.

Representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman presented a proclamation during the event.

The facility incorporates digital infrastructure including Oracle NetSuite for enterprise resource planning, Veeva Systems for quality management and other specialized software systems for manufacturing execution and laboratory information management.

“Today is more than a ribbon cutting. It is a clear signal of our commitment to this incredible industry and to this region,” said Syed Husain, chairman and CEO of Made Scientific.

“This facility is a testament to our dedication to supporting the next generation of cell therapy innovators for clinical-to-commercial manufacturing, all under one roof,” Husain said.

Founded in 2019, Made Scientific operates from two U.S. manufacturing facilities and is backed by GC Corporation of South Korea. The expanded facility will increase capacity by up to 2,000 additional batches per year to support late-phase and commercial programs.
