A Trenton man riding a skateboard was struck and killed by a car Wednesday evening on South Olden Avenue.

Gino A. Montervino, 31, was riding a non-motorized skateboard in the northbound lane near the intersection with Estates Boulevard around 5:48 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a 2022 Toyota Camry, the Hamilton Police Division said in a news release.

The vehicle was driven by Nency Arana Rodriguez, who was also heading northbound.

Police said the driver apparently did not see Montervino due to the level of darkness, the color of his clothing, and the lack of reflective material.

Montervino was thrown from the skateboard and suffered a serious head injury upon striking the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. No other injuries were reported.

The Hamilton Township Fire Division assisted at the scene.

Officer M. Mancuso of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to call the traffic unit at (609) 581-4000.
